Yale University

The Welsh merchant Elihu Yale made a considerable donation to a local institution: the money earned from “nine bales of goods,” 417 books and a portrait of King George I. That handsome package earned him naming rights for a certain distinguished institution in New Haven, Conn. And that’s where we will meet next year.

New Horizons in Science, part of ScienceWriters 2010, will be held on the historic campus of Yale University. Expect the usual mix of science, medicine, and a few surprises. The National Association of Science Writers will once again present a mix of workshops, lectures and panels to better prepare us for our careers in science writing and journalism in the 21st century.

And--we will observe the 75th anniversary of the Council for the Advancement of Science Writing, and the 50th anniversary of the National Association of Science Writers! Stay stuned for news of special anniversary events.

The dates for ScienceWriters 2010 are Nov. 5-9, 2010, with possible bonus workshops and field trips on Nov. 10. Put it on your calendar now. Meetings in the Northeast are particularly well attended, and this one will sell out. Registration begins Aug. 1, 2010.

We’ll see you there!
